From a performance standpoint, you’ll gain up to 32% greater energy efficient performance over our previous generation of Intel® Xeon® processor-based servers.1, 2 Intel® Turbo Boost technology 2.0 adapts to spikes in your workload, so you’ll get more computing power when you need it. For complex workloads, Intel® Hyper-Threading Technology doubles the number of execution threads, increasing processing efficiency and overall performance.

Because the Intel® Xeon® processor E3 family supports the PCIe 3.0 specification, I/O bandwidth is up to two times faster than the previous generation. Intel® Smart Cache Technology means faster access to commonly used programs and files. DDR3-1600 memory speeds up memory, allowing applications to run faster. Support for the SATA gen3 specification means you can double data throughput, saving you time when saving or retrieving large files. And Intel® Rapid Storage Technology improves the performance of disc-intensive retrieval applications such as video editing.

AES New Instructions (AES-NI) encourages pervasive encryption by reducing associated performance penalties, and accelerates encryption by 58% versus the previous version.3, 4 Intel® OS Guard protects your system from malware, and Intel® Secure Key provides security apps with faster and higher quality cryptographic keys and certificates.

Error Correcting Code (ECC) Memory helps avoid business interruptions by automatically detecting and correcting 99.98% of memory errors, and Intel® Rapid Storage Technology increases reliability of data back-up by allowing quick recovery in the event of a hard drive failure.
