Cloud Day Talk: Johnson & Johnson

As part of Cloud Day, Johnson & Johnson (J&J) CTO Daniel Zelem spoke about the company's healthcare cloud infrastructure. Three years ago, J&J reached an inflection point and decided to radically change the way its IT function delivered services and capabilities. The company had a traditional data center infrastructure, and recognized that small incremental changes would not be enough to fuel ...the company’s future growth. The company needed a more agile and flexible IT infrastructure that would deliver better service levels for J&J operating companies, so they adopted a software-defined hybrid cloud infrastructure that is highly virtualized, scalable, and has compliance and security built in. With the goal of everything software-defined, automated and self-sustaining, enabling users to secure new IT services in under an hour, eliminating the need for teams to plan months ahead before undertaking new projects. This new model more effectively leverages cloud technology, data and agile practices to enable innovation, agility and ultimately improved healthcare outcomes.
