Take Advantage of Improved Features and SAP NetWeaver Application Certification with New M6i Instances

For over 10 years, AWS and Intel have partnered to provide customers with SAPcertified solutions. Now, they’ve expanded that catalogue with new AWS M6i instances featuring 3rd Gen Intel® Xeon® Scalable processors. According to AWS, compared to the previous generation M5 instances, these new M6i instances offer up to 20% more memory bandwidth and 15% greater price/performance. For companies that need instances certified for SAP NetWeaver workloads, AWS offers M6i instances in sizes ranging from 2 to 128 vCPUs per instance to meet any need. In addition, the M6i instances offer a number of new features exclusive to 3rd Gen Intel® Xeon® Scalable processors, including Intel® Total Memory Encryption (Intel® TME) and Intel® Advanced Vector Extensions 512 (Intel® AVX-512). Take advantage of these new security and performance features to enhance your SAP environments. If you’re curious about performance, an m6i.32xlarge instance got 198,080 SAPS in one published test detailed here. For great performance and SAP certification for NetWeaver Applications, try out the new M6i instances.

Partnership and Experience

When SAP began their cloud innovation in 2008, they leveraged AWS and EC2 instances backed by Intel® CPUs. In 2011, the first SAP-certified instance, the m2.4xlarge, offered SAP Business Suite production workload certification. In 2013, AWS and Intel released the first SAP HANA certified instances, and in 2016 they launched the first multi-terabyte instances for memory-intensive workloads. With the optimization of SAP for Intel® architecture and the continued innovation between AWS and Intel®, AWS is the public cloud of choice for companies such as BP to run their mission-critical SAP workloads.

Broad Range of Choice

Another reason companies choose Intel®-backed AWS instances is the wide variety of SAP-certified instances they offer. With options ranging across instance types, sizes, and prices, companies can optimize their costs and workload needs. Additionally, they can adjust and scale their instances as needs change. One company, Zalora, has expanded its SAP HANA database from 244GB EC2 instances to 2TB EC2 X1 instances. And FAST Retailing uses up to 6TB EC2 High Memory instances. It’s possible to expand and adjust on the fly, changing from one instance size to another in minutes with minimal downtime.

Secure, Reliable, and Widely Available

Customers that prioritize security and reliability are drawn to AWS, widely considered the cloud provider with the most secure, reliable, and extensive platform. Amazon EC2 instances backed by Intel® CPUs comprise the majority of the AWS Global Infrastructure, which spans 25 geographic regions—more than twice as many regions as the next closest cloud provider—and 81 Availability Zones (AZs). Despite this geographic dominance, AWS and Intel® aren’t done growing. Look for five more regions and 15 more Availability Zones from AWS soon.

Conclusion

Join customers such as Zalora and BP by choosing AWS for your SAP needs. With the most reliable and secure public cloud infrastructure, AWS offers over a decade of experience partnering with Intel® to provide performance and reliability for SAP workloads. Choose from a wide range of SAP-certified instances, such as the new M6i instances featuring the latest Intel CPU technology, 3rd Generation Intel® Xeon® Scalable processors.
