Color State System Status Description Recommended Action
Green Solid On Ok System is ready. N/A
Green ~1 Hz Blink Degraded System is degraded.
BIOS detected

- Memory installed isn't detected

- Correctable errors over a threshold or migrating to a spare DIMM (if memory RAS is enabled)

- PCI-Express* correctable link errors
- System memory should be on the compatibility list.

- If memory RAS is enabled, check for the DIMM LED if it's lit up. Perform replacement if necessary.

- If PCI-Express* link errors are experienced:
(1) Check the system event log (SEL) for PCI link messages.
(2) Check to see if the PCI adapter is in the compatibility list.
(3) Apply the latest firmware for the adapter if possible.
Green ~1 Hz Blink Degraded System is degraded.
BMC detected

- Redundancy loss, such as power supply or fan. Applies only to platform subsystem that has redundancy capabilities.

- CPU was disabled—if there are two CPUs and one CPU is disabled.

- Fan alarm or Fan failure.

- Non-critical threshold crossed—temperature, voltage, power nozzle, power gauge, and PROCHOT (Therm Ctrl) sensors.

- Battery failure

- Predictive failure when the system has redundant power supplies

Check SEL for appropriate error. If power supply or fan is the issue, check power supply or fan LED to determine where the failure is and replace as necessary.

For processor issues, check SEL for offending processor. Ensure that heatsinks are installed properly and DIMM memory blanks are installed in the correct location.

Amber ~1 Hz Blink Non-fatal Non-fatal alarm—system is likely to fail:
BIOS Detected

- In non-mirroring mode, if the threshold of 10 correctable errors is crossed within the window.

- PCI Express* uncorrectable link errors.

Check SEL.

Replace offending memory with a good one.

Replace PCI-Express adapter.

Amber ~1 Hz Blink Non-fatal Non-fatal alarm—system is likely to fail:
BMC Detected

- Critical threshold crossed—voltage, temperature, power nozzle, power gauge, and PROCHOT (therm Ctrl) sensors.

- VRD Hot asserted

- Minimum number of fans to cool the system aren't present or have failed.
Check SEL for specific thermal issue. Replace fan if needed.
Amber Solid On Fatal Fatal alarm—system has failed or shut down:
BIOS Detected

- DIMM failure when one DIMM is present and no other good memory is present

- Runtime memory uncorrectable error in non-redundant mode

- CPU configuration error (for instance, processor stepping mismatch)

Check SEL.

Replace offending memory with a good one.

Make sure processors are the same stepping, family, and speed. Update to latest BIOS.

Amber Solid On Fatal
Fatal alarm—system has failed or shut down:
BMC Detected

- CPU IERR signal asserted

- CPU 1 is missing.

- CPU THERMTRIP

- No good power or power fault

- Power Unit Redundancy sensor— insufficient resources offset (indicates not enough power supplies are present).

Check SEL

Make sure processors are the same stepping, family, and speed. Update to latest BIOS.

Replace power supply if needed.
