Summary

There is a known issue that impacts games based on Valve's Source Engine when running on 7th Generation Intel Graphics (Kaby Lake)

Description

Graphics corruption may show in different instances when running some games based on Valve's Source Engine* like:

  • Day of Infamy
  • New World Interactive
  • Left for Dead 2
  • CS:GO

Resolution
  • There is a known issue with some games based on Source Engine*.
    • Intel is working with Valve to resolve so future drivers could see improvements.

 

  • The current workaround suggested by some users is to add the following to the game file named 'video.txt':
    • "setting.mat_tonemapping_occlusion_use_stencil" "1"
Additional information

There has been an issue with Valve games where they were using a check on the graphics hardware device ID to make decisions about how to render.

7th Generation Intel® Core™ processors device IDs were throwing off this check and caused failures in multiple games.
