Resolution

Check the following troubleshooting steps:

  1. Make sure that your latest drivers are installed. You can find drivers for Intel® Ethernet Adapters at the Intel Download Center.
  2. Make sure the properties of the Intel Ethernet Adapter are currently set to auto-negotiation.
  3. Check that your Intel Ethernet Adapter is connected to a fully compatible device with the speeds desired.
  4. For 10Gbps, check that a CAT-6 cable or superior is being used.
  5. Check the Ethernet adapter properties to make sure that it is being recognized with the correct speeds like, 10, 100, or 1000.
  6. A test with another computer or compatible device can be done to discard issues.
  7. If the adapter is dual port, an IP can be configured on each Interface and see the properties between them to check there are no issues with a specific port.

If after all these troubleshooting steps, the adapter continues with the poor performance,  consider a replacement.
