How to Make the OS see the Complete Volume

Environment

Intel® Server Boards Intel® Integrated RAID Modules Intel® RAID Controllers

WindowsServer2016

BUILT IN - ARTICLE INTRO SECOND COMPONENT
Summary

This is about how to make the system recognize drive with a capacity larger than 2TB.

Description

Unable to see the entire capacity of the bootable RAID array.

The Operating System (OS) was installed in Legacy Boot Mode; after that, the OS can only see 2TB.

Resolution

Legacy BIOS Boot Mode does not support more than 2TB. This is why the OS only sees this size. The OS needs to be installed in UEFI mode; click here for more details.

Note
  • Going into the RAID BIOS and attempting to shrink the volume will not work.
  • If the situation is rather that a data storage, dedicated volume above 2TB. is not detected by the already installed Operating System, ensure the latest RAID driver is installed.
