Frequently asked questions
Click or the topic for details:
Can I use the 2nd Generation Intel® Xeon® Scalable Processors in a non-R revision of the Intel® Server Board S2600WF Family?
Yes, the hardware is compatible, but the Intel® Server Board has to be at a minimum of BIOS version 02.01.0008 to boot with 2nd Generation Intel® Xeon® Scalable Processor installed. Once booted, you must upgrade to production BIOS for the CPU to run properly and the new features to become available.
Steps
- Install Intel® Xeon® Scalable Processors.
- Download latest BIOS version (02.01.0008 or later).
- Update to latest version 02.01.0008 or later.
- Install 2nd Generation Intel® Xeon® Scalable Processors.
- Re-update to latest production BIOS.
If I don’t need a refresh board to use the 2nd Generation Intel® Xeon® Scalable Processors, why did Intel launch a new R (refresh) revision of the Intel® Server Board S2600WF Family?
The main reason for the board revision change was to identify boards that have BIOS 02.01.0008 installed in the factory, so that you know immediately that these boards can boot with a 2nd Generation Intel® Xeon® Scalable Processor installed (as they have the R suffix).
