Description

Unable to determine if the Intel® Optane™ Memory H Series accelerates a SATA SSD

Resolution

Intel® Optane™ memory combines Intel® Optane™ memory media with Intel® Rapid Storage Technology software to increase the responsiveness of the most used applications on a user platform.

There are two different products that use Intel Optane memory available depending on the use case required

  • Intel Optane Memory M10 Series: This product is useful to add to a system that currently contains a SATA Hard Drive/SSD or a PCIe* NVMe* Intel® SSD 6 Series based on Intel® QLC 3D NAND SSD.  This device, along with the Intel® RST software, can help increase the responsiveness of applications that are currently stored on  the local drive.  This product is an accelerator for supported drives.
  • Intel Optane Memory H10 and H20 Series with Solid State Storage: Whereas the M10 product is two physical drives being combined with Intel RST software to look like a single drive to the OS, the H10 and H20 products contain both the Intel Optane memory media and an Intel SSD on the same single M.2 form factor.  They are combined, using the Intel RST software, to look like a single drive.  This product is more like a standard SSD.

NoteThe Intel Optane Memory H Series is not an accelerator and cannot be used to accelerate separate physical drives
