Why does JAM programming of a QSPI flash device connected to an Intel® Stratix® 10 device fail, when the JTAG chain contains multiple devices?

    Description

    Due to a problem in Intel® Quartus® Prime Pro Edition software versions 20.1 and prior, programming a QSPI flash connected to an Intel Stratix® 10 device with a JAM file will fail if the JAM file is generated from a .jic file where there are multiple devices in the JTAG chain.

    Resolution

    To work around this problem in the Intel® Quartus® Prime Pro Edition software versions 19.3 and 20.1, download and install the following patches: 

    Download the Readme (.txt) for the version 20.1 patch 0.17              

    Download the version 20.1 patch 0.17 for Windows (.exe)              

    Download the version 20.1 patch 0.17 for Linux (.run)

    Download the Readme (.txt) for the version 19.3 patch 0.50              

    Download the version 19.3 patch 0.50 for Windows (.exe)              

    Download the version 19.3 patch 0.50 for Linux (.run)

    This problem is fixed starting with the Intel® Quartus® Prime Pro Edition software version 20.2.
