Critical Issue
The 25Gbps and 50Gbps Ethernet IP cores support a minimum frame size of 64 bytes as required by the IEEE* specifications.
Due to the design of the Intel® 25Gbps and 50Gbps Ethernet IP cores, you may see one or more of the following behaviors for RX frames less than 26 bytes in length (22 bytes payload plus 4 bytes FCS):
- l1_rx_endofpacket may assert one or two clocks before l1_rx_startofpacket
- l1_rx_endofpacket may assert in the same clock cycle as l1_rx_startofpacket
- The short frame may be delivered without l1_rx_error[2] being set
- The frame length and/or payload length fields in the RX status vector (l1_rxstatus_data) could be incorrect
To work around this problem the far end transmitter must adhere to the required minimum packet size of 64 bytes.
This problem is not scheduled to be fixed in any future Quartus® Prime software release.
