Error(18948): Error message received from device: Detected corrupted configuration data at location 0x00008400

Environment

  • Intel® Quartus® Prime Pro Edition
  • BUILT IN - ARTICLE INTRO SECOND COMPONENT
    Description

The .jic file programming flow may fail on certain SmartVID (-V) graded Intel® Stratix® 10 devices with Intel Quartus® Prime Pro Edition Software version 17.1 (Update 1 and Update 2). You may encounter this error message during the .jic file programming process because the helper image (Factory Default SFL image) is unable to bypass the VID check for Intel® Stratix® 10 devices:

Error(18950): Device has stopped receiving configuration data

Error(18948): Error message received from device: Detected corrupted configuration data at location 0x00008400

    Error(209012): Operation failed

    Resolution

To work around this, follow the steps below:

    1. Configure the Intel® Stratix® 10 device over JTAG with a user design .sof file.
    2. Load the .jic file into the Intel Quartus® Prime Pro Software, and turn on the “Program/Configure” check box only at the child level .jic file. In this case, the programmer will program the .jic file directly into the flash device without configuring the Factory Default SFL image into the FPGA.

This problem is fixed in Intel Quartus® Prime Pro Software version 18.0.
