How do I compile for the EP1S10 ES ordering codes in versions that have hidden software support?

Environment

BUILT IN - ARTICLE INTRO SECOND COMPONENT
Description Hidden support is where you cannot select the device ordering code from the Device Assignments dialog box, but you can still compile older projects from
previous versions that have the hidden ordering code assigned.

Full support was introduced in Quartus II software version 2.2 service pack 1 for the following devices:

EP1S10B672C6ES
EP1S10B672C7ES

EP1S10F672C6ES
EP1S10F672C7ES

EP1S10F780C5ES
EP1S10F780C6ES
EP1S10F780C7ES

Quartus II software version 2.2 service pack 2 has full support for the following ordering codes:

EP1S10F484C5ES
EP1S10F484C6ES
EP1S10F484C7ES

The support will be hidden in a future version of Quartus II software. In Quartus II software versions that have hidden support, the following steps can be used to compile for hidden ordering codes.

  1. Exit all versions of Quartus II software
  2. Open the <project>.qsf file with a text editor.
  3. Locate the line in the fitter assignments section that looks like this

    set_global_assignment -name DEVICE EP1S10F780C5ES

  4. Edit this line to target the specific ordering code. You can copy and paste any of the ordering codes listed above.
  5. Launch Quartus II
  6. Compile your design
