Why does the Intel® FPGA Power and Thermal Calculator (PTC) show low power estimations for M20Ks in Intel® Stratix® 10 devices?

Environment

  • Intel® Quartus® Prime Pro Edition
  • BUILT IN - ARTICLE INTRO SECOND COMPONENT
    Description

Due to a problem in the Intel® FPGA Power and Thermal Calculator (PTC) version 20.3 and earlier, you may see underestimated M20K dynamic power for Intel® Stratix® 10 devices. This problem has no impact on Intel® Quartus® Prime Power Analyzer and on design power estimation in PTC using exported file .qptc. Only the designs that manually entered or modified in PTC configurations of M20K blocks number and depths in PTC are impacted.

    Resolution

This problem is fixed starting with the Intel® FPGA Power and Thermal Calculator (PTC) version 20.4.
