Why is Intel® MAX® 10 ADC taking a longer time to restart a new measurement when using  8 ADC channels with 1 TSD channel in Single conversion mode?

Environment

  • Intel® Quartus® Prime Design Software
  • Windows® 10 family

    Description

When you are using Intel® MAX® 10 ADC to perform a measurement using all 8 ADC channels and 1 TSD channel using a single conversion mode, you will find that it will take a longer time for the ADC and TSD to restart a new measurement after completing one measurement cycle.

    Resolution

This is because ADC TSD measurement is using 64 samples running an average mechanism. The first TSD reading will need to wait for all 64 samples to complete in order to get a valid reading, and switching between ADC voltage channels to temperature TSD channel will require an ADC channel recalibration process. Thus you will see the next measurement cycle will take longer to complete.
