Why does my 100GE-4, 100GE-2, 200GE-4, or 400GE-8 FGT reconfigurable variant of the F-tile Ethernet Multirate Intel® FPGA IP with PTP enabled always read out 0’s for the TX and RX TAM counter and valid registers?

Environment

  • Intel® Quartus® Prime Pro Edition
  • BUILT IN - ARTICLE INTRO SECOND COMPONENT
    Description

    Due to a problem in the Intel® Quartus® Prime Pro Edition Software version 22.1, 100GE-4, 100GE-2, 200GE-4, or 400GE-8 FGT reconfigurable variants of the F-tile Ethernet Multirate Intel® FPGA IP with PTP enabled will always read out 0’s for following registers:

    • ptp_tx_uim_tam_info1[30:16]
    • ptp_tx_uim_tam_info1[31]
    • ptp_rx_uim_tam_info1[30:16]
    • ptp_rx_uim_tam_info1[31]
       
    Resolution

    There is no workaround for this problem. You are advised to skip the UI Adjustment step in the PTP software flow.
    This problem is fixed beginning with the Intel® Quartus® Prime Pro Edition Software version 22.3.
